My name is Aixa Acosta I am a TDA Certified Doula with previous DONA International Birth Doula training, and a TDA Certified placenta encapsulator.
Whether you are planning on giving birth at home, a birth center, a hospital or will need a surgical procedure to deliver your baby, I will assist you and your partner in preparing for and carrying out your plans for birth. During your labor and delivery I will stay by your side and provide physical comfort measures, emotional support, and an objective viewpoint. I will always assist you and your partner in getting any and all information the two of you need to make informed decisions. I will also facilitate communication between you as the expecting family, and your health care providers.
I trust that a woman's body knows how to give birth. I believe the miracle of birth to be a natural, normal, non-medical process that unfolds best when left undisturbed. I recognize the value of pain when it comes to labor and childbirth and I do not associate labor pain with suffering. I believe that each pain is pain with a purpose and that each contraction brings you closer to the birth of your baby.....the baby you have been waiting for all this time. I do, however, also believe that each woman has her own specific needs and experiences pain differently. I support birthing mothers regardless of how they plan to give birth and how their birth experience unfolds.
As a Placenta Encapsulation Specialist I received training from TDA (Traditional Birth Arts) in September 2012, and adhere to a strict protocol in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1090.1030; I have completed training and hold a certification of completion in Blood-borne Pathogens for Doulas, Midwives and Placenta Encapsulators and have continued educating myself in the function, benefits and latest methods of placenta preparations. have been trained hands on with preparation of the placenta using different preparation methods, from Traditional Chinese Medicine method to raw preparations and tincture. Most of my client’s placentas are prepared at my home based laboratory; however all of the necessary equipment and encapsulation materials can also be brought to your place to complete the process in the event you prefer to have the encapsulation done at your home.
I treat every placenta with utmost respect and awareness.
I love everything related to pregnancy and birth and am always continuing to educate myself on topics surrounding pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding and the postpartum period. I am trained to understand the physiology, normal progression, and the emotional needs of a laboring woman.
