Hi! My name is Melissa Carroll, owner of The Mother’s Mentor in Norwalk, OH. I am a wife, mother of five adult children, and grandmother to five (so far). I am a retired home educator, writer, a support and mentor to moms (of all ages and stages), and a doula and childbirth educator. I have been supporting women in their births for over 20 years and became a Certified BBC Childbirth Educator in 2014 and Certified Doula in 2015.
My passion and heart for guiding women during pregnancy, labor, birth and beyond grew during the births of my children. My first birth was a natural premature birth. The middle three were c-sections for various reasons. And finally, my youngest was a beautiful and empowering VBAC homebirth. Each of those births taught me much about myself. And in hindsight, I learned how differently each birth could have turned out, had I been more informed.
As both a childbirth educator and doula, I believe a birth is a powerful and life-changing experience for a woman. I am convinced that well-informed trained women and their partners are prepared for that experience and approach birth quite differently and as a result, have considerably better birth outcomes. Bot my personal experiences and training have prepared me in my life passion to support women in their journey of motherhood by offering the most up to date education, encouragement and empowering support throughout pregnancy and beyond. I love offering woman before and during her labor journey the relational support she needs to have an amazing birth experience. My doula service extends into the postpartum period, offering each new mom breastfeeding guidance and encouragement in her the transition into motherhood.
