My name is Susi, I am a graduate of the Acupressure Institute in Berkeley where I began my studies in women’s health (in helping women with fertility issues, menstruation and menopause) and Tui Na massage. I attended the McKinnon Body Therapy Center in Oakland where I studied Swedish, Deep Tissue and Lymphatic Drainage. I saw a flier at the Acupressure Institute for a doula training workshop at that time I did not know what a doula was which made me curious. I researched on what a doula was and a month later I did my training through DONA in 2010 with Carol Shattuck-Rice. I continued my search for more educational studies in birth work since I fell so deep in love with it after attending my cousins first baby's birth. In May 2012 I found Heart & Hands Midwifery intensive instructed by Elizabeth Davis. After taking her workshop I felt astounded with all the information of what a midwife does that I had to take her Heart & Hands Advanced workshop. Taking these two workshops with Elizabeth Davis made me want to pursue birth work as a career. In learning how to help mothers I also wanted them to be comfortable before and after their pregnancy. I did my certification training in Pre and Postnatal massage with Carol Osborne in August 2012. As I continued attending births I found how important it is to help the bond grow stronger between mother and their new born. I went and became an Infant Massage Educator through IAIM to help mothers help their baby with any complications as digestion, colic, sleep, etc. I was always curious about the placenta encapsulations and tincture and it's benefits for the mama so I studied up on it and took a workshop. I now offer placenta encapsulation and tincture with my doula services.
I truly enjoy and love my work and see myself continuing for a very long time.
